A delegation from the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, visited Shandong Second Medical University (SDSMU) on May 24, 2026. The delegation included Albert Kharisovich Gilmutdinov, Assistant to the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan; Ayrat Zakievich Farrakhov, Rector of Kazan State Medical University; and Zhang Dali, Russian Liaison Officer for CRuTech. Zhang Jianhua, Secretary of the Party Committee of SDSMU; Liu Chuanyong, President of SDSMU; and Li Shibao, Vice President of SDSMU, met with the guests. Zhang, Secretary of the Party Committee of SDSMU, after a warm welcome to Gilmutdinov and his delegation, briefed them on the university’s history, disciplinary development, talent cultivation, and international cooperation. He noted that coinciding with the launch of the China-Russia Year of Education, the delegation’s visit is not only a step to deepen bilateral educational collaboration but also a chance to enhance bilateral friendship. The project of CRuTech, jointly advanced by Shandong Province and the Republic of Tatarstan, is an initiative under the framework of the China-Russia Year of Education and a platform for both sides to cultivate international talents in advanced technology. Kazan State Medical University, with rich academic heritage and disciplinary strength, is in an alignment with SDSMU in disciplinary development and talent cultivation, which indicates great potential for collaboration and promising future. Zhang reaffirmed the university’s full commitment to ensure effective cooperation and to help the building of CRuTech be a model of China-Russia educational partnership. Gilmutdinov expressed gratitude for the warm reception and introduced the progress of the project of CRuTech. He stated that he would promote friendly cooperative relations between medical universities, such as Kazan State Medical University, and SDSMU, supporting joint initiatives such as dual-degree programs, collaborative academic research, and cultural exchanges to accelerate the project’s implementation. Farrakhov, after introducing educational features, disciplinary advantages and achievements of Kazan State Medical University, anticipated innovative and substantive exchanges and cooperation with SDSMU in the fields of ophthalmology and optometry, as well as stomatology to achieve win-win development. Liu, President of SDSMU, noted that the project of CRuTech opens a new path for bilateral cooperation in medical education between the two countries. He hoped that the two universities would establish inter-institutional partnerships as soon as possible and focus on their respective strengths in medical disciplines to carry out student exchanges, faculty visits, and joint research. He emphasized to build a cooperation mechanism featuring “resource sharing, complementary advantages, joint cultivation, and mutual empowerment”, thereby energizing the project of CRuTech. During the visit, the delegation toured the Clinical Skills Training Center. Heads of the Party Committee Office of SDSMU, Academic Affairs Office, Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Clinical Medicine, School of Stomatology, and School of International Education also attended the event.
